Graduate Appointed Auxiliary Bishop

The Diocese of Rockville Centre announced Friday, June 7 that a graduate of one of our Marianist schools, Msgr. Richard Henning, has been appointed by Pope Francis as a new auxiliary bishop.

Bishop-elect Henning currently serves as interim episcopal vicar of the Central Vicariate of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, rector of the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, and director of the Sacred Heart Institute.  Bishop-elect Henning graduated from Chaminade High School in 1982.

In a release from the diocese, Msgr. Henning said, "I am grateful to His Holiness, Pope Francis, for the call to serve as an auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. I am also grateful to Bishops Barres and Murphy for their encouragement and mentoring. This is a moment of deep reflection and the humble acknowledgement of my dependence upon the grace of God and my joy in His service."

Bishop-elect Henning will be installed on July 24, 2018.
