Operation FIAT Highlights the Gift of a Religious Vocation

Several times each year, the Province holds a special event called Operation FIAT.   On the evening of November 19, the Chaminade High School Community hosted one of these occasions.  This program brings together members of the Province and those students from both Chaminade and Kellenberg Memorial High School who are interested in discerning a religious vocation.   Many of these students are active members of either school's Faustino Club, a school club orientated towards discussing vocational discernment as well as responding to the Lord's call to "holiness."   Some 45 students participated in this latest program, along with more than twenty members of the Province communities.  The evening began with Eucharistic Exposition and Adoration, followed by Evening Prayer.
Then, Bro, Benjamin Knapp, SM, of the Chaminade Community shared his vocation story in an engaging address to all.   Finally, over dinner in Chaminade's STARC building, the interaction continued.   With the students dispersed over several different tables, together with the religious of the Province, there was ample opportunity for the religious to share their own vocation stories, as well as for the students to share their questions, and curiosities, and simply get to know the members of Province a little more personally.

The members of the Province pray every day for those discerning a religious vocation.   We invite all to do the same. “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore plead with the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." (Lk 10:2)

Four Marianist Schools Make Beautiful Music Together

When the University of Dayton Orchestra comes to town, they not only bring a wonderful experience of musical talent and delight, but also a special moment for Marianist students of the schools of the Province of Meribah!   On October 7, 2024, after having performed several concerts at Kellenberg Memorial High School and Chaminade High School, the members of the UD Orchestra shared their talents with the orchestras of both of these schools and those of the Joseph C. Fox Latin School and St. Martin de Porres Marianist School.  Together they ranged from ages 10 to 22.  Some of them are quite accomplished in their craft, having studied for years, while others are just beginning to experience the magic of fine music and performance.  Yet, all were moved as these four Marianist schools, of all levels, collaborated in a mini-concert at Kellenberg.

The respective directors of each individual orchestra took turns leading the ensemble.  While the evening was open to parents and anyone who wished to attend, the main objective of the evening was to create a true symphony of generations who share the common joy of a Marianist education and a love of music.   Indeed, they did "make beautiful music together!"

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has set aside the week from Sunday, Nov. 4-Saturday, Nov,. 10 as Vocations Awareness Week.  Bro. Stephen Balletta, S.M., vocations director for the Marianist Province of Meribah, explains in this video the joy of his vocation and where discerners may turn if they feel they are being called.
